Bridging the Gap: Why Mo-saiQ is Essential for Institutions Committed to Diversity in STEM

In a recent report by The Guardian, the decline in Black college student enrollment following the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down affirmative action has been highlighted as a critical issue facing higher education in America. This ruling has far-reaching implications, not just for college admissions but for the future of diversity in STEM  and entrepreneurship fields. As institutions grapple with how to maintain a diverse student body in this new landscape, Mo-saiQ stands out as a vital partner in ensuring that Black and brown scholars are not only enrolled but are fully equipped to succeed.

The Challenge: A Widening Academic Capital Gap

The decline in Black college student enrollment is not just a matter of numbers; it represents a broader systemic issueโ€” the widening academic capital gap. This gap reflects disparities in access to resources, opportunities, and networks that are crucial for academic and professional success. Without deliberate efforts to address these inequities, Black and brown students are less likely to persist in their studies, particularly in demanding fields like STEM, where representation is already disproportionately low.

Mo-saiQ understands that academic success is not merely about admissions but about creating an environment where Black and brown scholars can thrive. Our mission is to provide culturally-affirming resources, personalized experiences, and supportive networks that meet our scholars where they are. By addressing the unique challenges they face, we aim to dismantle the barriers that often prevent them from reaching their full potential.
